The Nitecore NU43 rechargeable headlamp offers white and red lighting for outdoor tasks and night-time walks. Its maximum beam distance is 130 m, with up to 1,400 lumens in Turbo when you need a brief boost. Turbo returns to the previous setting after 30 seconds without further operation, rather than maintaining maximum brightness all night.

A built-in 3,400mAh Li-ion battery charges through USB-C in approximately two hours with a 5V/2A supply. It is not a removable 18650, so plan to recharge rather than swap cells on the trail. Direct access to red light lets you select it from off without cycling through white.

  • Nitecore rates the 300-lumen Mid setting at 15 hours; actual runtime depends on conditions.
  • An optical sensor reduces output when it detects an obstruction; detection varies with the object’s material and colour.

Can I carry a spare battery and swap it on the trail?

No. The NU43 uses a built-in 3,400mAh rechargeable battery rather than a removable 18650. Charge it through the headlamp’s USB-C port.

How long does charging take?

A full charge takes approximately 2 hours with a 5V/2A supply. The four indicators stay lit when charging is complete.

Will 1,400 lumens run all night?

No. Turbo returns to the previous setting after 30 seconds without further operation. For longer use, Nitecore rates 100-lumen Low at 29 hours and 300-lumen Mid at 15 hours; actual results vary.

Why does it dim when something is close to the lens?

An optical sensor reduces output to 100 lumens when it detects an obstruction, then restores the previous level when it is removed. Detection sensitivity varies with the object’s material and colour.

Can I turn on red light without cycling through white?

Yes. With the lamp off, hold the Mode button for one second to activate red light directly.

Can I wear it in heavy rain?

The NU43 is IP68-rated and specified as submersible to 2 metres. Do not immerse it while hot.
